Term: Ice rise
Definition: An area of grounded ice surrounded or almost surrounded by shelf ice or the ice of a floating tongue. Currently the largest ice rise, with an area of 44 000 km2, is Berkner Island in the Ronne-Filchner Ice Shelf.
