Interrupted glacier Glacier flow is interrupted by very steep cliff(s); No dynamic connection; Reconstruct below the cliff; Glacier that breaks off over a cliff and reconstitutes below. (WGMS, 1977); The entire catchment area of the glacier has to be looked at in order to identify if a glacier is interrupted or not! GCW Glossary 2023.03.27
Interrupted glacier A glacier consisting of two or more parts between which mass transfer or 'flow' to the lower part is by avalanching. Whether to regard the parts as separate entities is a matter of convenience. See re generated glacier. GCW Glossary 2023.03.27

Interstellar clouds An aggregation of gas and dust in the interstellar medium containing large quantities of atoms, molecules, and dust. There are several types of interstellar clouds, such as diffuse interstellar clouds , dark clouds, molecular clouds. Ryan McGranaghan 2023.04.16
Interstellar cyclotron emission No definition provided Ryan McGranaghan 2023.04.16
Interstellar dust An aggregation of dust grains in the space between stars. Interstellar dust absorbs, scatters, and polarizes the light from distant stars, causing the interstellar extinction. Large dark regions in th e plane of the Milky Way and other galaxies are caused by intervening clouds of dust. The conclusive proof for the presence of a general and selective interstellar absorption is due to R. J. Trumpler (1930). Ryan McGranaghan 2023.04.16
Interstellar dust extinction The dimming of light traveling in the interstellar space due to the combined effects of absorption and scattering by interstellar dust particles. Interstellar extinction increases at shorter (bluer) w avelengths, resulting in interstellar reddening. Ryan McGranaghan 2023.04.16
