S Doradus stars A type of massive, blue supergiant, variable star, also known as a Hubble-Sandage variable or a Luminous Blue Variable (LBV). S Doradus stars are the most luminous stars in the Galaxy and are easily i dentified in other nearby galaxies. They are named after the prototype, S Doradus, in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Sea breeze This is the breeze which blows from the sea or a large lake, to the land. The breeze is set off when the temperature of the land is higher than the temperature of the water. The land heats the air abo ve, which rises, and it is then replaced by the cooler air from over the water. (Opposite to the land breeze). GCW Glossary 2023.03.27
sea breeze front The horizontal discontinuity in temperature and humidity that marks the leading edge of the intrusion of cooler, more moist marine air associated with a sea breeze. Ryan McGranaghan 2023.04.16
