Definition: Cryomere refers to a cold period and is the opposite of a Thermomere, which is a warm climate period. According to the importance, duration, intensity, temperatures and precipitation characteristics different categories have been proposed such as: Category Cryomere Thermomere 1 Glacial Interglacial 2 Stadial Interstadial 3 Phase Interval 4 Step Stage In the mountain environment, the spatial scope of the glaciations, from a glacial (Category 1) up to a step (Category 4), were considered to be of 100 km, between 50 and 100 km, between 15 and 50 km and less than 15 km, respectively.  TrombottoGeocryology
