Term: Tor
Definition: Rock outcrop due to incomplete frost weathering. The origin of Tors is strongly related to the rock structure, especially with their degree of fissility. Tors can be classified in slope tors, located along the margins of valleys and surrounded by slopes covered by cryogenic debris with slope angles between 20 and 30, and apical tors, located on mountain summits. The latter are related to cryoplanation terraces and felsenmeer.  TrombottoGeocryology
